FREIBURG, GERMANY (May 31, 2019) – Glaswerk is introducing their ONE and ONE+ Vista Vision 2x anamorphic prime lenses. The Gaswerk ONE lenses offer a high resolution image coverage beyond Full Frame without sacrificing the popular classical 2x anamorphic look including flares and oval bokeh. The 50mm focal length is being exhibited at the Cine Gear Expo 2019 at Bright Tangerine’s booth #54.
“Glaswerk lenses unite classic anamorphic features such as oval bokeh, a creamy out of focus area and horizontal flares with modern lens design that allows for high resolution and low distortion towards the corners.“ says David Kellermann, Glaswerk’s co-founder and manager. “Now, filmmakers can get the anamorphic look they love at T2.4 without having to compromise on how they frame their shots.”
Glaswerk GmbH was founded to develop highly reliable cinema lenses with outstanding optical quality. To achieve the ambitious goals, Glaswerk works together with experienced teams of engineers with a background in the fields of lens design, straylight and ghost analysis, aerospace and automotive industry.
The lenses are optimized for an image circle of 30,672×25,56mm to get an 1:2.4 image on large format sensors such as the Alexa LF, but will also will cover lager sized sensors for even wider aspect ratios.
“When we started the development, it was clear for us that we want a 2x squeeze factor to get the most classic anamorphic look. We also want to make the use of full frame anamorphics as intuitive as possible for cinematographers changing from Super35 to full frame.
The range will offer 25mm, 32mm, 40mm, 50mm, 60mm, 75mm, 100mm, 135mm and 180mm lenses, all with a T-stop of T2.4 except for the 180mm. The 50mm, 60mm, 75mm and 100mm will be the first in production, with the rest following in late 2020 and 2021.
All focal lengths will be available in two versions: ONE with a multilayer coating on all lenses for controlled and restrained flares and ONE+ with a single layer coating on some lens elements for the typical anamorphic blue streak flare.
The prototypes of the 50mm focal length can be seen at Cine Gear Expo in the Bright Tangerine booth.
