GLASWERK OPTICS AT THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST LENS SUMMIT

On March 20–21, the Pacific Northwest Lens Summit in Portland, Oregon will bring together members of the cinematography and camera community for two days dedicated to cinema optics. Hosted by Koerner Camera, the event focuses on lenses, optical technology, and hands-on demonstrations in a relaxed setting.

At this year’s lens summit, Glaswerk Optics will present the Glaswerk ONE+ 32mm T2.4, a 2× anamorphic VistaVision lens designed for modern large-format cinema cameras. The lens will also be shown publicly in the United States for the first time. The 32mm marks the starting point of the Glaswerk ONE+ series, a lineup with a consistent look across all focal lengths. In the next months, the range will expand with 50mm, 75mm, and 100mm lenses for VistaVision, along with a 25mm wide-angle lens designed for Super 35. Additional focal lengths are planned to follow in 2027, further expanding the series.

THE GLASWERK ONE+ 32MM

The Glaswerk ONE+ series combines modern optical precision with the distinctive character associated with classic anamorphic cinematography. Designed to cover full-frame sensors, the lenses feature true 2× anamorphic compression, oval bokeh, and subtle flares that define the anamorphic look. Flares are visible yet restrained, adding character when desired without overwhelming the image. The lenses also exhibit a well-controlled, slight barrel distortion that keeps vertical lines nearly straight.

The 32mm stands out as an exceptionally well-corrected wide-angle anamorphic. Despite its wide field of view, distortion remains remarkably low, allowing the lens to be used confidently across the entire frame without the typical edge bending often associated with wide anamorphic lenses. This makes the 32mm particularly versatile for compositions that rely on straight architectural lines or balanced framing, while also allowing actors to be positioned toward the edges of the frame without noticeable facial distortion.
